X 500 Directory

The X 500 Directory service provides an easy way to develop an electronic directory of individuals in a particular organization. It then becomes a part of a global directory that can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection. The X 500 Directory is user-friendly, allowing people to be found by name, organization, department or email address. Since these directories are filed as a portion of a single directory, users can search for hundreds to thousands of people from a central location. This directory is organized under a root directory in a hierarchical system. The entry point of each level is required to have specific attributes; some are optional, others are established locally. Each organization may include a directory in it’s own manner as long as it conforms to the basic X 500 Directory scheme. This global system functions through a registration process in one or more central locations that manage various directories.
