VulnerabilityVulnerability Finding vulnerabilities in a computer is a huge part the hacking and malicious code scripting culture. It is a way for these individuals to feel a sense of accomplishment or elite status. More often than not, exposing a vulnerability results in thieving information and sometimes revenue from an unsuspecting user.
In many instances, a script or program may be aimed at a specific vulnerability. This is because hackers and malicious code writers study software in search of gaps and ways to exploit them. Since vulnerability is most often exploited by script writers, they are typically named after the program or script that poses the threat.
Many security applications are available to battle the plethora of infections that exist. They contain scanning modules and a variety of tools that will thoroughly evaluate a computer in search of the most common vulnerabilities. A user is then notified of the threat and advised as to what action needs to be taken. |
