Risk

Risk
In general terms, a risk denotes the potentially negative effect to assets or characteristics of high-value. In the use of computers, it relates the probability of a critical system infection. The probable loss or damage may be unknown yet relative regarding a situation that may prompt multiple viral incidents. A risk is measured in the sense of likelihood and severity. It could represent possible attacks on a system, as well as vulnerabilities in a program or network. Perception and management are key factors when it comes to acting on a risk. This enables a user to react promptly and take the appropriate action in securing their assets, information or system. Since it may be difficult for a basic computer user to fully determine and comprehend the seriousness of a probable attack or vulnerability, many anti-virus programs have implemented risk management systems to aid in the cause. These systems do most of the work by analyzing low-risk and high-risk processes, and recommending what action should be taken.
