ProxyProxy While a proxy is often related to an IP changer, it is actually far more complex. It provides a user the ability to change their IP address, but also gives options for removing client-side scripting. For instance, a proxy can disable JavaScript to remove images, advertisements and much more.
There are two proxy programs commonly used on the internet: PHProxy and CGIProxy.
PHProxy
This type of proxy provides much more flexibility with some of the following options:
• the removal of server-side scripting
• the acceptance of HTTP cookies
• easy management of cookies
• multiple URL configuration
CGIProxy
CGIProxy does not provide as much flexibility but does work well with client-side scripting. Here are some of the available options:
• no cookies
• no scripts
• no advertisements
• no referrer packets
While CGIProxy is somewhat lacking in comparison to PHProxy, it ensures a user more protection against incoming threats. It helps to hide an IP address without restricting access to particular web sites. |
