Preamble
A preamble signal is used to ensure that all network systems are correctly interpreting the start of data transfer. It is very similar to how an engineer compiles a number of sounds and instruments to formulate the background music before a song begins. By establishing the tempo, a vocalist is then more apt to be in synchronization and start the song accordingly. In general, a preamble defines a given set of transmission pulses. These pulses are comprehended by the communicating systems, giving the indication that data is prepared for transmission. This ensures that both systems are prepared and will interpret the data correctly when the transmission begins. The actual pulses of a preamble may vary depending on the communication technology used by the network. A preamble may also be defined as a preliminary explanation or introductory statement as to the purpose of a specific document and the reason behind it’s philosophy. In this sense, the term is mostly applied to the opening paragraph of a statute in which historical facts may be relative to the issues at hand.
