Netprowler Agent

Netprowler Agent
Often called a web crawler, spider or web robot, a netprowler agent is an automated script or application that prowls the web in a methodical manner. When used with malicious intent, it may be considered a bot, ant, automatic indexer or worm. The act it participates in is called spidering or web crawling. A netprowler agent is used mostly by search engines, a method that provides them with up to data information regarding sites on the web. It creates a copy of all visited web pages that are later processed by the search engine. From there, the search engine will index the content, enabling a user to be prompted with faster search results. A netprowler can also be used for automating important tasks on a website. This may include searching for links or validating scripting codes. Many spammers will implement it to thieve accounts in order to send unsolicited emails.
