Mobile Code

Mobile Code
Mobile code is essentially a program that is originated from a remote machine, and then transmitted across a network to infect an unknowing user. Some examples of mobile code are macros bundled with text documents, JavaScript, Active X controls, Flash animation and Shockwave files. Mobile code can be installed and executed via email when a user downloads a file attachment. Files may consist of HTML or JavaScript that has been compromised. Examples of mobile code would be the popular I Love You, True Love and AnnaK viruses that were frequently contracted through emails. In these instances, VBScript was included into the email attachment and then executed in the Windows Scripting Host to spread the infection. In most cases, a user will not have knowledge of mobile code downloading executing commands on their operating system. Mobile code technology is often used to support the following patterns: Remote evaluation, Code on demand and Mobile agents.
