Malware

The term malware is a combination of the words malicious and software. In the world of computing, the general term expresses various forms of intrusive or corrupting software codes. Malware is often referred to as a virus, since many average users are not fully aware it. In a technical since, it is not a virus. It is also called badware in many anti-virus solutions. Software that has been branded with the malware title is based on the intent of the infection writer opposed to a particular function. It may consist of a computer virus, Trojan horse, spyware, deceptive adware, and other forms of unwanted applications. Malware should not to be mistaken as software that contains a few bugs - the repercussions it leaves on a user are much more destructive than that. While definitions of the terms vary, malware is known for delivering worms and viruses, enhancing its rate of destruction as these system ailments tend to spread and infect other machines. Like many infections, malware can be contracted by opening an unsolicited email or simply by surfing a malicious website.
