Macro Virus

Macro Virus
A macro virus is normally built into regular software such as text editor. Since many areas of Windows support macro-based programming, malicious content can be automatically executed when a text file is opened. This gives the virus the platform it needs to distribute malicious content. The macro virus is often contracted through deceiving attachments found in email messages. It may also be spread through compact or floppy discs, networks, modems or the internet. When an application executes a file attached with the macro virus, it can then infect the entire operating system. It will mold into clean files and templates along with any new items that may be added. As infected files are innocently shared on a computer, the macro virus will commence to spread at an alarming rate. The virus relies on software vulnerabilities opposed to an operating system. Since applications such as Microsoft Word are available on a variety of computers, a macro virus has the ability to attack Windows and other platforms such as Mac OX.
