Leased Line

Leased Line
A leased line is often used for a telephone, data or internet activity. Organizations will use it to connect with distant locations since it assures a high level of bandwidth for network traffic. A leased line is not composed of telephone numbers because both sides of the line are always connected to each other. Traditional telephone lines simply switch the same lines and reuse them for multiple conversations. Data that travels through a leased line is sent along secure channels. This eliminates congestion that occurs over a shared network. The connection speed varies from 64 kbps to 45 mbps per second. The required bandwidth is determined by the amount of information that will be transferred and received. Leased lines are also used to increase the speed of a modem and work well in web hosting environments. While they are bit pricey and more suited for established organizations, a lease dline can be easily installed like the basic telephone line.
