A host may also be defined as a company that provides internet service, an act known as hosting. A host computer acts a mainframe in IBM systems and larger environments. In this instance, it is often referred to as a large server. The mainframe includes two different workstations that use it as a host provider for various services. A host may contain both servers and clients. The programming model of the server-client relationship all relies on the independent use of the host.
