Flooder Denial Of Service (FDOS)Flooder Denial Of Service (FDOS) Often referred to as Syn flooding, this type of strike typically seeks out systems providing TCP-based services to the web. Victims of flooder denial of service generally have trouble accepting incoming network connections. This prevents a legitimate user from making a connection. The good thing is that an FDOS has no effect on existing incoming connections or a server’s ability to initiate outgoing connections. In many cases, memory of the targeted unit becomes exhausted, causing it to freeze of crash. This often leads to a machine becoming completely inoperable.
Most of the time, damage of a flooder denial of service is not permanent. Once the process has ended, simply restarting the machine is usually enough to clear out the issue and grant a user connection to a server. On the other hand, any applications that are open during the time of a strike may lose unsaved data if a crash occurs. If the FSOD reoccurs, it indicates that the computer is still vulnerable. |
