FATFAT FAT is known to be reliable and simple to use. When a computer crashes in the process of an important update, it will not lose data. FAT also does not need a large amount of memory to operate. However, it does handle additional administrative functions to other areas of the partition. Its directory is allocated from the start of a partition and contains an area of unused space. To implement a new data set, it is necessary to move the disk arm between where the data is to be written and the directory’s location. If the FAT system is not optimized, items may be fragmented and scattered into several small pieces.
Sometimes, the FAT system may become corrupted or endure disk errors. This could prompt a message that reads, “No Bootable Media.” When this happens, a back up is available for scanning and repairing the FAT. If the scan application cannot make the repair, the process will need to be restarted. |
