EXTRA DAT File

EXTRA DAT File
Once an EXTRA DAT file is added to the scan folder of a user’s hard drive, it will be used by the software and the basic DAT files to identify newly released viruses. This enables the scanning engine to protect an operating system from oncoming threats and successfully detect and remove them upon release of the product. After the virus update has been officially released, the EXTRA DAT file is no longer needed. An EXTRA DAT file is either bundled in a ZIP file or in a Super DAT package. When using the Zip package, a user must open it and manually install the EXTRA DAT file. The Super DAT package can be self-installed and is generally easy to work with. A user should frequently upgrade EXTRA DAT files to stay aware of the latest threats. They are valid for a period of 14 days - if not renewed, they will automatically be disabled.
