EngineEngine The core of an engine is essentially framework that commands other scan modules, often considered as the “glue” for the entire process. The engine has the ability to automatically shield a user from viruses, worms, Trojans and many other malicious infections. An engine can also provide a user with automatic news updates regarding the latest threats. In newer software, it is designed as a registration module, allowing its components to be individually registered and upgraded. Because of its great capability, the engine should always be protected by mechanisms such as encrypted digital certificates.
As of now, many scan engine frameworks offer a user anywhere from one to five different modules to detect malicious content. It mostly contains string-based and checksum-based engines. Scripted-based interpreters are often found in an engine as well. The implementation of interpreters that use complex instructions make it much easier to detect and remove complex viruses. |
