DVD+R

DVD+R
In 2007, the industry for recordable media was at a standstill regarding which format was best for usage: “plus” or “minus.” This is mostly due to the growing number of dual-format devices with the ability to record both. These days, it is difficult to find new devices that are dedicated to one format. However, older DVD players tend to favor the DVD-R format since it has been in use since 1997, having a five year advantage on the plus format. As of October 2003, the DVD+R format demonstrated the ability of double layer technology. This allowed it to hold much more data. Manufacturers have since incorporated this technology into newly released devices. Competing with DVD-R, it wasn’t officially claimed as a DVD format until January of 2008. Unlike the RW format, DVD+R can only be recorded on a single time which makes it more suitable for the storage of audio, video and data. Sometimes it may carry the RW logo, but still isn’t re-writable.
