Default Process
The default process is standard in between High-Risk and Low-Risk procedures. In these instances, a scan can be modified in order to contain threats and maintain a computer’s performance. A virus must already be written on a hard drive when using the Low-Risk scenario. This must take place so that the infection can communicate and distribute a payload. From there, VirusScan is able to scan it if the DAT’s contain detection of the threat. VirusScan will also prevent full creation of the infection if its method of construction shows to break Access Protection rules. With a Low-Risk procedure set in place, a user is still backed by multiple layers of protection against potentially hazardous infections. A high-risk procedure is called upon when a threat is severe and requires immediate attention. In this scenario, users are made aware of an issue as soon as a threat is identified. From there, the infection can be quarantined or safely removed from the operating system.
