CookiesCookies Cookies are mostly used to track activity on the internet. When some sites are visited, the server assigns one that acts as an identification card. When the site is visited again, it will be passed back to that server. This allows the server to gather details about which pages on the site have been visited the most, ultimately making way for faster and more convenient surfing.
Cookies are often used for shopping on the net. Online outlets will record personal information entered on a site, along with items from a shopping cart. This prevents a visitor from having to re-enter this information upon every visit and purchase.
Contrary to popular belief, accepting cookies will not grant a server access to a computer or personal information - only information that was intentionally submitted. A server can only read those that have been set. Other than that, they cannot access sensitive information. |
