CME

CME
CME is essentially responsible for supplying one common identifier for new viruses. CME also deciphers the most prevalent issue categorized in the wild to reduce public alarm during incidents. It does not attempt to replace names assigned by an anti-virus software designer - CME simply aims to facilitate the adoption of neutralized indexing in regard to viruses and relevant system hazards. CME was initially designed to address issues labeled as high-profile. This included viruses that could potentially disorientate a user, cause a user considerable damage, or attract mass media attention. Group members are comprised of prominent anti-virus software associates and other organizations with access to virus samples and reports. The system depends on the relevant history of these members to determine when an incident is worthy of inclusion onto the list of probable issues. Since the nature of viruses is forever changing, members in this system are continuously adapting to these environments to maintain public awareness.
