BIOS

BIOS
Basic input/out system, better known as BIOS, is an integral component pre-installed into a computer. It is made accessible to the computer’s microprocessor on an EPROM (eraseable programmable read-only memory) chip. When the machine is turned on, the microprocessor permits control to the BIOS, which is always found in the same location on the EPROM. When the BIOS starts a computer, it first specifies whether all attachments are accurately placed and operational; it then loads the operating system into the computer’s RAM (random access memory) from a hard drive or floppy disk. BIOS allows an operating system and it’s programs to be free of knowing the exact details concerning connected input and output devices. Though it is theoretically always in between the microprocessor and data flow, it is sometimes able to arrange data to flow directly to memory from specific devices that require a faster flow of data in order to be effective.
