Many hosting servers are now configured to support banners. They make it easy for a user to personalize login areas whether failed or successful. A banner is a useful feature that enables users to set and modify default messages for staff members or clients. They can be implemented and programmed to show whenever another user logs into a server. Banners can be used to greet users into a content management module or to share important news, special announcements, or security policies. They are often used with secure servers to welcome users once login credentials are requested. Here of some of the variations in which messages may be shown: • Getty Message - appears prior to a login prompt. • Message of the Day - normally appears following a successful login. • Copyright - some variations will show copyright details of the server upon a login. • Shell Cruft - additional messages can be setup by multiple users in output enabled directories with the help of a capable database.
