Background Scanning

Background Scanning
This method of infection detection is often used to scan various attachments transmitted via email. Acting as an external source, background scanning is capable of handling small tasks, while allowing the primary security application to scan the major libraries, scripts, and other areas for potential threats. Many of the newly released security applications support this unique detection mode, allowing a user to scan a folder each time new items are added to the operating system. Background scanning is a very effective way to battle infections, as it alerts a user when threats need to be handled. When configured properly, it will even safely contain and remove the threat without any physical action from the user. While background scanning drastically decreases the probable damage an infection may cause, this method of detection will command robust CPU cycles and other activity on the hard drive that may falter the operating system’s performance.
