AttackAttack These attacks occur at anytime and vary in damage. An attack can be made against one or more computers, capable of gaining control through direct access. This allows a hacker to physically control a computer to install various programs and hardware and compromise administrative functions. Attacks cause the computer to be vulnerable to worms and other malicious viruses. A strike can easily download a large amount of content onto external media, such as recordable DVDs and CDs, flash drives, digital cameras or portable audio players.
Other attacks are performed indirectly. This is when one or more is launched by a third party computer that has been remotely hijacked and controlled. A hacker can successfully cover their tracks by launching a destructive action from another computer. An experienced hacker can go as far as remotely controlling public portals and sophisticated websites if the appropriate protective measures are not set in place. |
