ApplicationApplication An application is considered as a subclass of computer software. Applications enhance the capability of a computer by efficiently carrying out an action a user would like to perform. Multiple files combined together as packaged software are perfect examples. In most cases, the separate files contain a user interface that makes it simple for a user to become familiar with the software.
Application software may consist of simplistic files that communicate with a computer on a basic level, or those that are more advanced and require various system utilities in order to function.
Some software is user-written, tailored to meet specific needs of the public. This type of software may use spreadsheets, visual stimulations, graphics or animated scripts. Email filters and anti-virus solutions also fall under this category.
More defined examples of applications include word editors, database software and digital media players. |
